Reverse Engineering
When drawings are lost, wrong, or never existed, we recover the geometry. Full-surface laser scans are registered, meshed and remodeled into manufacture-ready CAD — legacy castings, obsolete parts, damaged structure and as-built plant.

Reverse Engineering — common questions
What accuracy can a reverse-engineered CAD model hold?
The model is only as good as its verification. We deliver a deviation colormap comparing the final CAD against the source scan — typical envelope is a few tenths of a millimetre on machined features, with the report stating the achieved tolerance per surface.
Can you model from a broken or worn part?
Yes. We reconstruct design intent — restoring symmetry, nominal dimensions and fillets from the surviving geometry — and flag every inferred feature in the report so your machinist knows what was measured versus reconstructed.
What file formats do you deliver?
STEP and IGES as standard, native SolidWorks on request, plus STL meshes and registered point clouds. We match the deliverable to your downstream use — machining, casting, simulation or archive.
How long does scan-to-CAD take?
Scanning is usually a day or less on site. Modeling ranges from days for a single component to weeks for complex assemblies — the fixed quote states the delivery date up front.
